When to use this

You are pursuing ISO/IEC 42001 certification, or a buyer or board has asked you to demonstrate an AI management system aligned to it.

What you will produce

An assessment against ISO/IEC 42001 with each clause and Annex A control evidenced, gaps tracked to closure, and an audit-ready workpaper pack for the certification body.

Steps

1. Set the scope. Confirm which AI systems and processes are in scope in AI System Records; the management system governs how you govern them.
2. Route to the standard. Create an assessment against ISO/IEC 42001, which is structured as clauses 4 to 10 plus Annex A controls.
3. Assess each section. Work through the management-system clauses (context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation, improvement) and the Annex A controls, recording maturity and rationale.
4. Evidence the controls. Through the Evidence Tracker and Testing Centre, capture the artefacts each clause needs, policies, roles, risk and impact assessments, operational controls, monitoring and review records. The policy generator can draft the policies and procedures the standard expects.
5. Close the gaps. Raise findings for shortfalls and work them on the Remediation Roadmap ahead of the audit.
